TSOP Ep3 – The Equity Equation | Solving Education’s Biggest Challenges

Sarah Dirrane 17 Feb 2025

In this episode we have something slightly different for you. We recently hosted our Equity Equation event, in which Professor Damien Page discussed many critical issues surrounding equity in education.

For those that missed this brilliant event we have now brought it to you in podcast format! In this episode you will find Damien sharing his personal journey and insights into the systemic inequalities that persist in the education system. He emphasises the importance of understanding the barriers faced by disadvantaged students, not only in accessing higher education but also in thriving within it. The conversation highlights the need for universities to adopt a more inclusive approach, focusing on cultural, financial, and structural support to ensure all students can succeed. Ultimately, Professor Page calls for a shift in how widening participation is viewed, advocating for it to be a core value rather than a mere initiative.
