Hello and welcome to the September edition of our Cosmos Connects newsletter!

Cosmos Admin 16 Sep 2024

I hope you’ve managed to enjoy at least a bit of sunshine during the non-summer we’ve been experiencing!

We decided to be quite ambitious with our summer plans this year, managing to visit Lake Garda, Florence, Zurich and Blumberg in August.

We also threw in an obligatory festival, as per the picture above – which was taken just before Annie Mac came on to the stage, hence my big smile!

Those reading who have children will know that all this is no mean feat. There were a few shaky moments during the trip where we questioned our judgment, but all in all, being brave and bold paid off. Memories were made and souls nurtured with some lovely family time.

Now, we’re looking forward with anticipation to the new term – so here are some useful snippets to enlighten and fill your bucket.

VIDEO INTERVIEW: HELLO FUTURE

Our most recent video interview is with Anna Bradley, Outreach and Evaluation Manager at Hello Future.

Anna shared how Hello Future uses on-the-ground results to guide its initiatives in real time. It’s a really valuable discussion and one I hope you’ll find as interesting as I did.

Improving the Impact of Access and Participation Programmes

Our latest blog post looks at the potential power of data to drive student outcomes – and how we move from guesswork to great results, consistently delivering high-impact programmes that connect with students from underrepresented backgrounds.

LIGHTNING SKILLS SERIES

For those who haven’t yet seen it, I’d also like to share the first video from my Lightning Skills series, in which I share practical tips and advice on how to confidently moderate online discussion groups with 14 to 16-year-olds.

That’s almost everything for this month. As you may have seen on LinkedIn, we have exciting news about our new Podcast – The Student Outcomes Podcast.  We will be sharing the first episode with Graeme Atherton, founder of National Education Opportunities Network (NEON) with you next week.
