Thanks to our proven track record of success, we’ve grown our network of clients across the UK. These range from HEIs, NCOP consortia networks, HE Marketing and Access & WP teams, through to Students Services teams, Schools & Colleges, Local Authorities and Independent Fostering Agencies.
We have two distinct divisions, Cosmos Engagement, providing innovative outreach activities and Cosmos Insight, leading insightful Research and Evaluation programmes. Both perfectly complement each other and have defined our position as experts in Education and Social Care.
Our mission is a simple, yet important one – to improve the educational outcomes, life chances and social mobility of young people.
Our Core Values
– Professional – Passionate
– Quality – People Focused
I previously had a career at Leeds Beckett University, initially as a Widening Participation Practitioner and latterly as a WP Manager: Research & Evaluation. I’m passionate about working with young people to develop and empower them.
I was born into disadvantage and was subsequently taken into foster care at the age of 11 and therefore have first-hand experience of some of the challenges our young people face. Education transformed me and helped get where I am today, despite being looked after until the age of 18. I’m a Sports enthusiast and was selected to run for Great Britain at the European Championships during my university studies. I also graduated with a BSc in Sports & Exercise Science and a MSc in Sports & Exercise Nutrition.
Director, Research & Strategy
I’ve worked in Higher Education and the public sector for 10+ years and have a sound understanding of the wider context, national aims and objectives of work within these sectors. Whether it be a rich qualitative study or large-scale quantitative programme, I enjoy helping clients answer the big questions, make continuous improvements or identify what works and why.
As a trained researcher at heart and firm believer in harnessing an evidence-led approach, I will always be fully committed to delivering truly insightful programmes that can help make a positive difference.
Account Manager, Engagement
I’ve worked in a number of different roles in Higher Education, with the majority of my experience coming from working with young people within Widening Participation, Outreach and Student Recruitment teams.
After completing my degree in Entertainment Management, I found myself working within the universities WP team on a Graduate Scheme. From there, I’ve continued to progress my career within this sector, as I’m passionate about helping young people realise their full potential. As a non-traditional, first generation HE student myself, I have seen first-hand the transformative and lifechanging effect education can have on people.
Senior Research Manager
Throughout my career, I’ve been responsible for planning and delivering analysis and insight to help drive strategic business and operational decisions for some of the UK’s biggest companies, including Time Inc. Global Entertainment and Capita.
My background is in developing engaging quantitative customer research panels, surveys and trackers from start to finish, across multiple sectors, as well as managing large-scale attitudinal and behavioural surveys for marketing campaigns, product testing, client experience and business operations. I enjoy analysing, interpreting and simplifying big data for visual presentations to recommended improvement initiatives. I love using my experience to identify areas where we can work with our clients to continue to support young people in shaping their future.
Dr Marianne Hewitt
I was awarded my PhD from Queen’s University, Belfast, following a three-year, in-depth and ethically-approved research project that saw me conducting primary and secondary research and fieldwork in the UK, the USA, Argentina and Brazil.
Using the skills I gained from this, I now help plan and execute rigorously researched and accurately written reports as well as present insights to a variety of audiences. In the past, I’ve taught primary, secondary, university and mature students in the UK, France, Spain and Hong Kong, which has given me an appreciation of the challenges and rewards of being an educator. I’m a strong believer in the value of education as one of the key agents of personal development and social mobility
